soleyman mahmoudi

Soleyman Mahmoudi was born in 1974 in Saghez city of Kurdistan province in Iran. He started his photography activity at the age of 19 in Kermanshah Photographers Association in 1993. In 1997, he was accepted into the bachelor's degree in photography at Tehran University of Art. Meanwhile, he worked in the field of humanity and portraits of Kurdish people, as well as environmental problems in Kurdistan, Iran, Iraq, and Turkey. In 2001, he successfully was accepted the master's degree in photography at the University of Art in Tehran and it was at that time that he was invited by Tabriz University of Art to work as a lecturer and teach photography. He was engaged in social and news documentary photography, working as a freelance photographer for many news agencies and newspapers. In 2001, for the first time in the city of Saghez, he established the field of photography in the Art Academy, which trained many photographers. Also, in 2009, he established the field of photography in the Faculty of Art of Payameh Noor University. Among other things, Soleyman Mahmoudi won an honorary diploma and FIAP blue ribbon from Italy in 2004. The winner of the Grand Award from the Biennial of UNESCO photo called Humanity photo award(HPA) in China in 2006. In 2009, he was also one of the short-listed photographers of the Sony Photo Festival in the arts and entertainment section in Cannes, France, which unfortunately was removed from the final section due to Iran's cultural embargo Winner of Documentary Prize and Special Jury Prize of Biennial Photo Anthropology of China in 2011.
