Unspoiled beauty

Jie lady. This photo was taken in Eastern Equatoria, South Sudan. Sharing the same stunning facial and body keloidal scars of Toposa people, the Jie also practice specific lip piercing and the women adorn themselves with beaded, semi-circular crowns, multi-stranded bead necklaces, brass bands and nose rings. These beautiful beaded decorations have colours that tie a Jie woman to the clan of her husband. Experiencing other cultures, rituals and customs, enriches your knowledge and deepens our understanding of the world. It is important to preserve the cultural diversity and worldview of these islands of resistance

CATALINA Spain

Born in Úbeda (Jaén) Spain. Doctor in Veterinary Medicine and vocational photographer. Her work, based in photographic essay, shows a personal perspective, a point of view of the reality which interests her. Travel is the common thread of all her work. The camera has become an inseparable travelling companion, which helps her to tell her travels as a writer may do in his travel journal. She is deeply seduced by the human element Long years ago I found photography made my life more happy and complete. My camera is my tool to connect with my surroundings in a vital way I enjoy. I passionately narrate stories using the camera's story-telling powers to tell about my perceptions of each place. I enjoy the pleasure of Seeing, Feeling, Photographing. When words are elusive or insufficiently clear, photographs become the universal language that most richly and most subtly conveys emotions. I find it exciting and inspiring when my photographs achieve communicating my sensations. When viewers seeing my images feel the life throb in them. This only happens when a photograph is made with joy, personally, intimately, as a present. To photograph the world can be a cliche repeated a thousand times. Our challenge as photographers is to find balance and expression playing with light, composition, and timing. To subvert reality and turn it into an aesthetic experience pounding, caressing or challenging the viewers' senses ... what an improvement over reality, to be able to create magic!
